Each part of your anatomy has a role to play in your overall health. If your muscles, tendons or bones suffer some damage, you could be looking at some serious back troubles. This might include a fracture, slipped herniated disk, or even a broken back. Your back pain can result from any number of actions, activities, improper movements, overexertion, or even disease.
Back pain is complex, since there are so many contributing factors. For instance, your central nervous system adjacent to your spine has a big part to play in the formation of back pain.
Statistics indicate that over one million individuals experience some type of back pain, either severe or minor. Half of these cases could have been prevented in the first place, without the need for medical intervention. The rest of them might end up suffering from back pain for the rest of their lives if they don’t take a practical approach to the problem.
In some cases, surgery is performed to correct the problem. Surgery often leads to major complications, including even more severe back pain. Even the pain of a damaged tendon or shoulder ligament can be eased without the necessity of surgery.
Did you know that losing weight can reduce back pain? The incidence of obesity is continuing to rise right around the world. This extra weight increases pressure on the muscles and usually results in back pain. “Oh, my aching feet”, you might moan. You might not stop to think that the problem lies in poorly fitting shoes, excessive body weight and too much pressure on the joints and muscles that support you.
If you have a slipped herniated disk, how do you get pain relief? Learn how to lean and bend correctly, lose weight if necessary, wear properly fitting shoes and curl up to relieve pain.
Are you aware that by curling up in a fetal position you can reduce the pain caused by a herniated slipped disk? So, lie down on your side, curl your knees up towards your chest, and find out for yourself. Once you’re in the fetal position, put a small pillow or cushion between your knees; make sure that you’re not curled up too tightly. Don’t raise your hips.
Now that you’re more aware of the causes of back pain, start to take action and get relief from your condition.
