Arthritis – Not One – But 100 Diseases

The term arthritis refers to joint inflammation. This disease is not one disease, but is over 100 different types of arthritis. Some conditions damage the joints of the body and this group of conditions is referred to as arthritis. This is the leading cause of disability in the elderly as well as those aged 65 and over. Arthritis has many different forms and each of those has its own cause.

The common theme of all forms of this disease is arthritis pain. The arthritis pain may differ among arthridities ( people suffering from arthritis) and their location.

Here are some warning signs of this disease are stiffness, pain, swelling and difficulty in moving one or more joints. If you have one or more of these symptoms for 2 weeks or more, you need to talk to your doctor and get it diagnosed and treated.

Osteoarthritis – pain is worst at night or after rest.

Rheumatoid – most pain in the morning and in its early stage. In elderly and children some limbs may refuse to function and the pain is not as pronounced.

Some of the different types of arthritis are rheumatoid, osteoarthritis, septic, gout as well as psedudogout, juvenile arthritis, Lupus and Still’s disease as well as Ankylosing spondylitis. There are many options when treating arthritis depending on the type of arthritis, medications as well as arthroplasty.
